Scripture: “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 5:3

Devotional:
Being “poor in spirit” means recognizing our spiritual neediness and dependence on God. It is an attitude of humility acknowledging we have nothing apart from Him. This posture is the foundation of a life in submission to Christ and opens the door to His kingdom.

The kingdom of heaven belongs to those who humble themselves before God. This isn’t about material poverty but a heart that seeks God above all else. Being poor in spirit allows us to experience the fullness of His grace and blessings, as we rely not on our own strength but on His sufficiency.

Illustration:
A man stranded in the desert realizes he cannot survive without water. When someone offers him a canteen, he eagerly accepts, understanding his absolute need. Similarly, when we come to God with the humility of our spiritual need, He fills us with His living water and sustains us.

Challenge:
Reflect on areas where you may be relying on your own strength instead of God. This week, spend time in prayer, surrendering your burdens and asking Him to cultivate humility in your heart.
