Scripture: “But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.” – Matthew 14:27
Devotional:
When the disciples saw Jesus walking on water, they were terrified, thinking He was a ghost. But His comforting words, “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid,” reminded them that His presence dispels fear. Jesus reassures us today that no matter how overwhelming our circumstances, we can take heart because He is with us.
Faith in Jesus allows us to face life’s challenges with courage and confidence, knowing He has the power to calm our fears and guide us safely through life’s trials.
Illustration:
A hiker lost in the wilderness feels hope when they see a guide approaching to lead them to safety. In the same way, Jesus’ presence assures us that we are never truly alone, no matter how uncertain the path.
Challenge:
Identify an area of fear or uncertainty in your life. This week, repeat Jesus’ words, “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid,” whenever you feel overwhelmed. Trust in His presence and power.
